Harare, (New Ziana) – Following fraudulent enrolment notices circulating on various media platforms, the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) has clarified that it has yet to open applications for the August 2026 first-year intake.
In a statement, the UZ’s Deputy Registrar (Academic), Doreen Tirivanhu, urged the public to ignore the misleading adverts and follow official updates on the UZ’s official media platforms.
“The University of Zimbabwe notes with concern the circulation of advertisements and campaigns purporting to relate to the August 2026 first-year undergraduate enrolment. It should be noted that the University does not conduct enrolment business through WhatsApp or other unofficial social media platforms,” Tirivanhu said.
She added that the University will soon roll out an official career guidance and awareness campaign to provide prospective students with accurate information on its academic programmes and application procedures.
“The awareness campaign will be conducted exclusively through official UZ platforms, including the university’s website, its verified Facebook page, Pachikomo FM 95.2, as well as national radio and television stations,” she said.
According to Tirivanhu, the campaign will be followed by the official call for applications for the August 2026 intake.
“The opening of application platforms will only take place after the conclusion of the official awareness campaigns. Dates and procedures will be communicated strictly through authorised channels,” said Tirivanhu.
