The flame of the liberation struggle has been lit at Zezani Assembly Point in Juliet Village, Gwanda Chitauze Constituency, Beitbridge, marking a significant moment in Zimbabwe’s journey of remembrance and unity.
Vice President Constantino Chiwenga led the ceremony, lighting the eternal flame after a nationwide tour that retraces the footsteps of the liberation struggle.
The Flame of Liberation is a symbol of Zimbabwe’s hard-won independence, honoring the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and reminding citizens of the values of unity, resilience, and patriotism.
This year’s roadmap sees the flame moving across provinces, engaging communities ahead of the national Independence Day commemorations, reinforcing the call for inclusive development and leaving no one behind.
The event has drawn senior government officials, including provincial senators, Members of Parliament, ministers, traditional leaders, and villagers, all gathered to witness and celebrate this historic moment.
