DR Minnie Baloyi-Chiwenga, the wife of Vice President Dr Constantino Chiwenga, has offered US$10,000 in cash prizes for a three-month weight-loss challenge aimed at encouraging Zimbabweans to embrace healthier lifestyles.

The challenge, which ends on December 20, 2026, will award the prize money to three participants who successfully lose at least 10 kilograms.

The overall winner will take home US$5,000, while the second- and third-placed contestants will receive US$3,000 and US$2,000, respectively.

The competition is open to overweight or obese individuals of all ages and genders, with eligibility determined by body mass index (BMI).

According to the challenge rules, participants must achieve weight loss through physical exercise and diet, using only natural methods.

Contestants are also required to demonstrate consistency by posting at least three workout sessions per week on their social media platforms.

Dr Baloyi-Chiwenga said she is working to bring more partners on board, with additional prizes expected to be announced once arrangements are finalised.

The initiative comes as obesity and unhealthy lifestyles attract increasing attention, with regular physical activity and balanced diets widely encouraged as essential components of good health.

The three-month challenge gives participants the opportunity to combine fitness goals with financial motivation as they work toward losing the required 10 kilograms before the December 20 deadline.

The challenge is expected to generate interest on social media, where contestants will document their fitness journeys throughout the competition.
