THE Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has announced that the Warriors will participate in the 2026 Unity Cup, an international four-nation tournament set to take place in London from May 26 to May 30.
The tournament will be held at The Valley, the home ground of Charlton Athletic FC, and will feature Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Jamaica, and India. This event represents a historic milestone for the Warriors, who will compete in England at a tournament of this magnitude for the first time.
Zimbabwe will face Nigeria in the opening semi-final on May 26, followed by Jamaica taking on India on May 27. Both matches are scheduled for a 7:30 pm kick-off, with winners advancing to the final on May 30.
The Unity Cup returns to The Valley for the first time since 2004 and has evolved into a vibrant celebration of football, culture, and diaspora identity, uniting nations and communities through the global game.
ZIFA president Nqobile Magwizi described the tournament as a major milestone for Zimbabwean football, emphasising its significance internationally. He noted that the Warriors’ participation demonstrates Zimbabwe’s ambition to compete, develop, and challenge itself against formidable opponents.
Warriors head coach Marian Marinica welcomed the opportunity, underscoring its value as a platform for the team to demonstrate their abilities and represent Zimbabwe with pride.
Team captain Marvellous Nakamba expressed confidence ahead of the tournament, affirming that the squad is ready for the challenge. He highlighted that playing in London, especially before Zimbabwean supporters in the diaspora, adds a unique significance to the event.
ZIFA has urged Zimbabweans in the United Kingdom and worldwide to rally behind the Warriors as they embark on this landmark international campaign.
