Harare, (New Ziana) – A woman who doused her husband with petrol before setting him ablaze has been jailed for 10 years by the High Court.

Sindiso Ndlovu (42) from Maphisa, Kezi, was convicted and sentenced to 10 years imprisonment by the High Court sitting at Bulawayo for the murder of Busani Ncube in October 2019.

The National Prosecution Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) said Ndlovu and Ncube had a blazing misunderstanding over the former’s infidelity while the couple was in their bedroom on October 19, 2019.

Ndlovu locked the door whilst they were inside and doused Ncube with petrol before setting him ablaze. The matter was reported to the police leading to Ncovu’s arrest.

Ncube was taken to Maphisa District Hospital and he was later referred to United Bulawayo Hospital for further management. He succumbed to his injuries on the 8th of January 2020.

Separately the NPAZ reports that a Bulawayo woman appeared at the Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court on charges of abusing her step children in contravention of the Children’s Act.

Allegations are that on last June 11, the 29-year-old woman assaulted her step-son (5) and step-daughter (3) all over their bodies using an unidentified object.

The young girl sustained bruises on the neck and body as well as a broken hand and is admitted at a local hospital.

The children were eventually taken away from the step mother by their father before a police report was made. The woman was remanded in custody to July 4.

In Mutare, the local court fined Tambudzai Muwandi (40) US$120 or alternatively 30 days in prison for bigamy. The court also ordered that the Registrar-General’s office cancel the offending marriage certificate.
