Harare, (New Ziana)-The driver of a front end loader at Tai Hao International Resources (Pvt) Ltd died on Friday while working at the Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd ferrochrome processing site in Kwekwe, the Midlands province, where his company was contracted.
The deceased, identified as Cosmas Musoni, was operating a front-end loader when he was engulfed by a ferrochrome slag avalanche from a stockpile he was working on, and died at the scene.
In a statement issued through its legal representatives, Chitsa and Masvaya Law Chambers, Tai Hao International Resources confirmed the incident.
“Mr Musoni and the front-end loader he was operating were engulfed by a ferrochrome slag avalanche from a stockpile he was loading from at Zimasco (Pvt) Ltd premises in Kwekwe, where the company is currently contracted. Tai Hao International Resources (Pvt) Ltd is cooperating with the relevant authorities to ensure that all requirements in terms of the law are fulfilled to avoid recurrence,” it said.
The company described the late Musoni as a “hardworking, well-groomed and well-cherished employee.”
