HARARE – Congolese soukous music star Yondo Sister has been confirmed as the latest international artiste to perform at this year’s Ecobank Legends Night Africa concert scheduled for September 26 in Harare.
Her inclusion comes after organisers announced Malian music icon Salif Keita as one of the headline acts, setting the stage for what is expected to be one of Zimbabwe’s biggest live music events of the year.
Organisers said Yondo Sister, widely regarded as one of Africa’s leading soukous performers, will bring her trademark energetic stage performances and rich musical repertoire to Zimbabwean audiences.
“Yondo Sister’s addition to the line-up strengthens our commitment to celebrating Africa’s musical legends while giving fans an opportunity to experience world-class performances from some of the continent’s most celebrated artistes,” the organisers said.
Known as one of the leading female voices in Congolese music, Yondo Sister has built a distinguished career spanning several decades through her vibrant performances and contribution to the popularisation of soukous music across Africa and beyond.
Salif Keita, popularly known as the “Golden Voice of Africa”, is also expected to headline the concert, bringing his extensive catalogue of internationally acclaimed music to local fans.
Organisers said the event seeks to celebrate Africa’s rich musical heritage by bringing together legendary artistes whose work has shaped the continent’s cultural landscape.
They added that more performers could still be announced ahead of the concert.
Ecobank Legends Night Africa has grown into one of Zimbabwe’s premier live entertainment events, attracting renowned African musicians while promoting cultural exchange and strengthening Zimbabwe’s position as a destination for major regional music festivals.
Music lovers are expected to attend the concert in large numbers as anticipation continues to build ahead of the September showcase.
