MBERENGWA– A tragic domestic dispute turned fatal after a four-month-old infant fell when her parents were fighting. After realising that their fight had cost the life of their infant, the two agreed to secretly bury the child, but were unsuccessful.

The incident occurred on the evening of October 23 in Domboshava, Mberengwa.

The young couple has since been arrested for not only causing the child’s death but also attempting to secretly bury the body.

According to Midlands Police spokesperson, Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko, the infant, Mitchelle Zhou, was strapped to her mother’s back when the parents, Mthandazo Zhou (23) and Tawananyasha Zhou (18), became embroiled in a heated argument that escalated into a physical fight.

“During the scuffle, the baby reportedly slipped from the mother’s back, fell to the ground, and died on the spot due to the injuries sustained,” said Inspector Mahoko.

The two are expected to appear in court soon.
