Harare (New Ziana) –The resilience, courage, fortitude and unflinching determination of the youth in the face of illegal sanctions on Zimbabwe comes under the spotlight during the SADC Anti-Sanctions Day this year.
Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister, Jenfan Muswere said during the post Cabinet media briefing on Tuesday.
“The youth have heeded His Excellency the President’s clarion call that “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikhazi balo” (a country is built by its own citizens) and are playing a significant role in the development of the country,” he said.
He said the Minister of Defence, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, as the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, had briefed Cabinet on plans for the day set for October 25 under the theme “Harnessing the Youth for Accelerated Socio-Economic Development in the Fight Against Sanctions”.
Muswere said President Emmerson Mnangagwa will deliver a televised keynote address to mark the day with the address being distributed on all social media platforms, targeting the youth to enhance awareness of the negative impact of sanctions on the country.
“There will also be short and brief anti-sanctions marches within school premises and around workstations for government workers. An Anti-Sanctions musical show will also be held,” he said.
SADC countries 2019 declared 25 October as solidarity day against illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe and resolved to carry out various activities in their respective countries to resoundingly call for their removal.
