Harare, (New Ziana) – The ruling ZANU (PF) party has confirmed the expulsion of Central Committee member Blessed Geza and several other members for fanning factionalism and undermining the authority of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa is the President and First Secretary of ZANU (PF).
The ruling party’s Legal Affairs Secretary, Patrick Chinamasa and national political commissar, Munyaradzi Machacha confirmed Geza’s expulsion by the Politburo during a media briefing at the party headquarters in Harare.
Also expelled on the recommendations of the National Disciplinary Committee are three senior ZANU (PF) members, Godwin Gomwe, Gilford Gomwe, and Gutu East Member of Parliament, Benjamin Ganyiwa who is also expected to be recalled from the August House by the ruling party setting the stage for a by-election in the constituency.
Harare provincial political commissar, Kudakwashe Damson was suspended for three years and removed from his position for insubordination and abuse of office.
Geza was expelled for utterances of disloyalty, indiscipline, and undermining the authority of the President in the public domain.
Godwin and Gilford Gomwe and Ganyiwa were expelled for gross indiscipline arising from an incident in which they created WhatsApp groups that denigrated President Mnangagwa, thereby undermining his authority.
In addition to the expulsion and suspension of the errant members, ZANU (PF) has adopted a deliberate policy that mandates the national commissariat to institute a social media policy to curb the abuse of social media by party members.
