Harare, (New Ziana) – The ruling Zanu PF party has shifted its annual December people’s conference to October, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said on Wednesday.

President Mnangagwa, who is the First Secretary of the party, told its Politburo that a decision had been taken to move the national conference owing to inconveniences brought about by rains which the country receives in December.

“I urge the party to start preparations for the National People’s Conference which will be held in October this year,’ he said.

“I think we all remember that we shifted from December, because in December there is always too much rain and it inconveniences delegates, so we agreed to move it to October. The Department of Administration should now work towards holding our national people conference in October, and they should recommend to us what date in October.”

The annual conference was not held last year owing to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa announced re-deployments at the party that have seen former Vice President, Kembo Mohadi who resigned from government early this year, being appointed to be in charge of party affairs on a fulltime basis.

Mohadi is the ruling party’s second Vice President.

Zanu PF secretary for Finance Patrick Chinamasa has been appointed Acting Political Commissar, replacing Victor Matemadanda who was appointed Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Mozambique.

Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi was appointed a member of the Politburo.
