Gwanda (New Ziana) – The ruling Zanu PF party won eight parliamentary seats out of 12 in the just ended general elections in Matabeleland South province, according to partial results of the poll announced by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

The main opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party scooped the remaining four constituency seats, in a poll voters elected a new president, and parliamentary and local government representatives.

The vote took place on Wednesday, and over six million people had registered to take part.

The outcome of the vote in the province mirrored most other regions where the ruling party dominantly won, brushing off the challenge from several parties.
