Harare (New Ziana) – Early official results released by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission on Thursday show that the ruling ZANU (PF) has won six and the opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) five National Assembly seats in the harmonised elections held on Wednesday.

ZANU (PF) secured 92 local government seats unopposed countrywide when its candidates were not opposed at the nomination court sitting last June 21.

Meanwhile, in flagrant violation of the Electoral Act, the CCC has claimed that it is heading for victory in the general elections, citing its unofficial tally of the results.

The Electoral Act places the responsibility of announcing election results solely on the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission.

On Thursday the police arrested 39 people for allegedly coordinating the unofficial announcement of election results.
