KWEKWE – The Zibagwe Rural District Council’s proposed budget of ZiG 200 million for the 2025 fiscal year is currently pending approval from the Ministry of Local Government, Urban and Rural Development.
During a recent full council meeting, Zibagwe RDC Chief Executive Officer Farayi Machaya confirmed that the budget was submitted on time, adhering to the requirements set forth in Section 47(1) of the Public Finance Management Act (Chapter 22:19).
The budget’s financial structure includes 60 percent sourced from local revenue and 40 percent from government grants.
Machaya is confident that the Local Government Ministry will approve the budget allowing the council to move forward with its planned expenditures.
A significant portion of this budget will be allocated to operational assets, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) facilities, as well as road infrastructure improvements.
Machaya said council is committed to prioritising service delivery in alignment with the National Development Strategy (NDS).
“As we approach the final year of NDS 1, our focus on service delivery remains paramount. We are dedicated to fostering growth and development consistent with the framework set forth by the SADC chair, President Emmerson Mnangagwa, under the initiative titled ‘A Call to Action: No Compromise on Service Delivery,’” stated Machaya.
He urged the council and its members to “re-think, re-focus, and re-strategize,” fostering a collaborative culture that enhances the effectiveness of their service delivery efforts.
