Zim congratulates Museveni on re-election as Ugandan President

Harare, (New Ziana) – Acting President Kembo Mohadi, has sent a message of congratulations to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni following his re-election in the January 15 Presidential election, reaffirming the deep ties between the two African nations.

In a statement Acting President Mohadi conveyed congratulations and best wishes of the Zimbabwean government and its people on President Museveni’s electoral victory, describing the result as a testament to the trust the Ugandan people have placed in their tested leadership.

He underscored the shared history of friendship and collaboration between Zimbabwe and Uganda, pledging the commitment of Harare to working closely with Kampala in enhancing bilateral and multilateral relations on issues of mutual interest.

“As we join you in celebrating this emphatic verdict from the people of the Republic of Uganda, I wish to reaffirm my country’s commitment to deepen and broaden our two brotherly countries’ long shared history of friendship and collaboration. We look forward to working closely with you, Dear brother, to enhance and reinforce these mutually beneficial relations in the years ahead, at both bilateral and multilateral fora, on issues of common interest,” he said.

Acting President Mohadi also extended best wishes to President Museveni for good health and prosperity for the people of Uganda.

President Yoweri Museveni was officially declared the winner of Uganda’s 2026 Presidential election on Saturday with around 71.65 percent of the vote, according to the Electoral Commission, securing a seventh consecutive term in office.

His closest challenger, opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, widely known as Bobi Wine, received approximately 24.7 percent of the vote.

The election was held on January 15 this year, with over 21 million Ugandans registered to vote at thousands of polling stations nationwide.
