    Zim Covid-19 cases rise to 28

    Harare(New Ziana) – The number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Zimbabwe rose to 28 on Wednesday after three of the 841 samples tested came out positive, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said.

    In a statement, the Ministry said the three positive cases were recorded in Harare.

    “As at 21:00 hours on 21 April 2020, from the 93 PCR results received from the National Microbiology Reference Laboratory, 3 were positive for Covid-19. Results for 65 samples are still pending.

    “All the tests done in Bulawayo today (Wednesday) were negative for Covid-19. Therefore, to date, Zimbabwe now has twenty-eight confirmed cases, including two recoveries and three deaths,” it said.

    Government announced intention to test at least 40 000 samples for Covid-19 by 30 April, 2020 including all frontline health workers.

    The country is currently on day three of the extended 14- day lockdown which was ordered to minimise the spread of the virus.
