Harare (New Ziana)-Zimbabwe on Sunday received one million doses of the Sinovac vaccine as the country ramps up the fight against COVID-19.

The doses arrived at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe international Airport at midday.

The country is on a drive to achieve a 60 percent herd immunity.

Finance and Economic Development Minister , Professor Mthuli Ncube received the vaccines.

“Zimbabwe is set to receive 1,5 million vaccine doses this Thursday and another 2,5 million doses in August and 2,5 million in September. The government has used USD$93 million in the process,” he said.

    As at 24 July 2021, Zimbabwe had 97 277 confirmed cases, including 64 628 recoveries and 3 050 deaths.

To date, a total of 1 438 890 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19.
