Harare, (New Ziana)-The 2026 cotton marketing season opened in Zimbabwe on Monday with prices pegged at US$0.43 per kilogram for grade A crop and US$0.35 for Grade D.
In a statement, the Agricultural Marketing Authority (AMA) said the season will run until July 31 this year.
“The Agricultural Marketing Authority is pleased to announce the commencement of the 2026 Cotton Marketing Season which will run from 18 May to 31 July 2026. Cotton remains a strategic crop that supports rural livelihoods. This season, the Authority remains committed to ensuring an orderly, transparent, and fair marketing environment for all stakeholders across the cotton value chain,” it said.
“Approved minimum producer prices for the 2026 season are as follows: Grade A – US$0.43/kg Grade B – US$0.41/kg Grade C – US$0.38/kg, Grade D – US$0.35/kg,” it added.
AMA said farmers will be paid 70 percent in United States Dollars and the balance of 30 percent in local currency as per Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe Guidelines.
“Any form of side marketing will not be tolerated,” it warned.
The Cotton Company of Zimbabwe is the government chief buying agent for the crop.
