Harare (New Ziana) – Zimbabwe and Tanzania will soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the field of arts, culture and heritage in an effort to strengthen relations between the two countries that date back to the days of the liberations struggle.

In a post cabinet media briefing on Monday, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said cabinet had approved the MoU presented by the Attorney-General, Prince Machaya.

The areas that the two countries will cooperate in under the MoU include learning each other’s respective culture through the exchange of artists, artistic groups and experts in different manifestations of arts and culture by organizing concerts, fashion shows, arts exhibitions, festivals and lectures in either country.

There will also be showcasing of the different aspects of each country’s cultural life through dance, cinema, exhibitions, research and conferences as well as exchange of appropriate materials and programmes at the request of either party.

“The MoU is envisaged to further cement the sister countries’ excellent relations, thereby consolidating economic, social and political cohesion through better understanding of the respective countries’ cultures,” said Mutsvangwa.
