Harare, (New Ziana) – Â Zimbabwe will host the 2026 Southern African Development Community (SADC) Anti-Corruption Expo and Games in Victoria Falls from September 17 to 19, bringing together more than 800 anti-corruption practitioners from eight SADC member states.
The Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), in a statement on Wednesday, said the event, to be officially opened by Vice President Kembo Mohadi on September 17, will be held under the theme “Scaling Up Integrity Actions Across SADC.”
According to ZACC, the three-day programme will combine anti-corruption advocacy, cultural activities, sport and knowledge-sharing, with the games featuring men’s and women’s volleyball, soccer and netball.
The Commission said the sporting activities are intended to strengthen cooperation among anti-corruption practitioners, while the exhibition will provide a platform for member states to showcase and exchange innovative approaches to combating corruption.
“The games are designed to foster camaraderie, networking, and team spirit among anti-corruption practitioners,” ZACC said.
The event will be preceded by an anti-corruption procession to raise awareness of the SADC Protocol Against Corruption and demonstrate regional cohesion.
ZACC said the exhibition and games would also leave a lasting legacy in Victoria Falls, following collaboration with the Victoria Falls Municipality and other stakeholders to construct two netball and two volleyball courts at Chinotimba Stadium.
The infrastructure development will transform the stadium into a multi-disciplinary sporting facility and provide a long-term community asset for Victoria Falls and Matabeleland North.
The Commission said hosting the event demonstrates the country’s commitment to the SADC Protocol Against Corruption, as well as continental and global anti-corruption frameworks, including the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption and the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.
Zimbabwe will enter the event as one of the previous year’s top performers, having won the best exhibitor award and three silver medals in netball and volleyball at the 2025 games held in Swakopmund, Namibia.
