Harare, (New Ziana) -The Parliament of Zimbabwe has sent a message of condolence following the death Zambian Clerk of the National Assembly Roy Ngulube on Monday while on official duty in Tashkent,
Uzbekistan.
Speaker of Parliament Jacob Mudenda said the Zimbabwean Parliament was deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Ngulube, who was a “dedicated colleague and indefatigable compatriot.”
Ngulube died in Uzbekistan during the 150th Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly.
He had been appointed Clerk of the Zambian Parliament in September 2023, capping a distinguished career in public service spanning over 30 years.
“A dark cloud engulfs the entire SADC Region, as we have been robbed of a dedicated colleague,” Mudenda said. “His commitment to strengthening Legislative institutions across borders was unwavering.”
He praised Ngulube’s legacy of humility, wisdom and service. “Mr Ngulube was a gentle giant in every sense, tall in stature, but even taller in humility, warmth and wisdom.”
Mudenda also recalled the role Ngulube played during the 56th Plenary Assembly Meeting of the SADC Parliamentary Forum in Livingstone, Zambia, in December 2024, where he served as the Administrator of all proceedings.
He said Zimbabwe had been preparing to host him again at the upcoming 57th Plenary Assembly in Victoria Falls in May and June this year.
“Sadly, death, the unkind thief of time and life, was not gracious enough to grant us this opportunity,” said Mudenda.
