Harare,  (New Ziana) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, in collaboration with key partners, is preparing to host the 3rd edition of the Zimbabwe Annual Diaspora Conference (ZADC) from Thursday to Saturday next week.

The event will take place at the prestigious Leopard Rock Hotel in Vumba, approximately 10km southeast of Mutare, Manicaland province, and will bring together government officials, business leaders, and members of the Zimbabwean Diaspora to discuss investment, trade, and national development.

To be held in a hybrid format, the conference, will be guided by the theme, “Engaging, Enabling and Empowering the Diaspora: Catalyzing Investment, Trade and Social Support for National Development.” In a statement, the Director of Public Diplomacy, Communications and Advocacy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Philisiwe Chidawanyika, said this year’s theme builds on the foundations laid by the first two editions of the conference, held in Bulawayo in 2023 and Matabeleland South in 2024, respectively.

“The ZADC 2025 aims to foster meaningful engagement between Zimbabwean diaspora communities and key stakeholders in the mining, agriculture, real estate, and tourism sectors. Participants will explore ways to enhance the diaspora’s role in national development, focusing on investment and economic growth opportunities. ”

The conference will be hosted in partnership with Homelink Zimbabwe, the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Real Estate Agencies Association, and various insurance and funeral service companies. These organizations will play a pivotal role in facilitating discussions on economic participation and financial inclusion for Zimbabweans living abroad,” she said.

Chidawanyika said a major highlight of the conference will be the opportunity for members to contribute to the ongoing review of the Zimbabwe Diaspora Policy.

The framework provides strategic direction for the government and stakeholders in addressing the needs and potential contributions of the Diaspora community through enhancing their inclusion in Zimbabwe’s socio-economic development, in alignment with the national vision encapsulated in the slogans “Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo” (A country is built by its people) and “Leaving no one and no place behind.”

“To ensure inclusivity, the conference will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing Zimbabweans across the globe to participate virtually. “This approach aligns with the government’s commitment to broadening engagement and ensuring that every Zimbabwean, regardless of location, has a voice in shaping the country’s future,” added Chidawanyika.

A hybrid meeting is a combination of a traditional in-person, face-to-face meeting, and a remote meeting, held over a conference call platform. Hybrid meetings generally occur when some attendees are present and available in a physical space, while others are not.
