Harare, (New Ziana) – Zimbabwe will next month host a highly anticipated Vision 2030 SMEs Summit, an event aimed at unlocking the transformative potential of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as drivers of economic development.

The summit, co-ordinated by Afrocentric Events, will run from July 29 to August 1, 2025, at Harare showgrounds.

In a statement, Primrose Kurima from Afrocentric Events said the summit will be a strategic gathering of entrepreneurs, policymakers, business leaders, and development partners to align the dynamic SME sector with the country’s Vision 2030 agenda — an ambitious blueprint for attaining upper middle-income status by the end of the decade.

“The Vision 2030 SMEs Summit aims to create a platform for SMEs, policymakers, and stakeholders to converge, share insights, and collaborate on strategies that can propel Zimbabwe towards achieving its Vision 2030 goals.

“Through a series of keynote speeches, panel discussions, and workshops, the summit will focus on innovative solutions, funding opportunities, and policy frameworks that can support the growth and sustainability of SMEs,” said Kurima.

She said the four-day summit will feature a rich program of keynote addresses, sector-specific panel discussions, and interactive workshops focused on unlocking funding opportunities, enhancing market access, and refining policy frameworks.

Discussions, said Kurima, will also explore pathways for SMEs to contribute meaningfully to inclusive growth, youth employment, and industrialization.

She said the objectives of the summit include aligning SME strategies with national economic goals under Vision 2030, fostering collaboration between government, private sector, and civil society and showcasing innovative SME practices and success stories.

Other objectives include providing expert insights from industry leaders and policymakers as well as empowering entrepreneurs through knowledge exchange and opportunity mapping, said Kurima.
Kurima said the summit is expected to draw participation from across the region, offering a good platform for networking, collaboration, and policy engagement.
It also presents a rare opportunity for SME operators to engage directly with government officials and influence future policy, she said.

In a country where SMEs account for a significant portion of employment and GDP, the summit underscores a broader push by the government to formalize, support, and scale up this vital sector.
Stakeholders and invited guests are encouraged to confirm attendance and contribute to shaping the future of Zimbabwe’s SME ecosystem.

High profile speakers include Felix Mhona, the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Development, Tatenda Mavetera, the Minister of Information Communication Technology and Courier Services, and several captains of industry and commerce.
