Harare, (New Ziana)— Two outstanding Zimbabwean educators, Lindiwe Chitubura of Chipiwa Primary School in Chiredzi and Wibert Siziba of Neshangwe High School in Sadza, Chivhu, are proudly representing the nation at the inaugural Global Forum for Shaping a Better Future in Singapore.
Their participation marks a significant moment for Zimbabwe, showcasing the country’s commitment to educational excellence and leadership on the world stage.
The international forum has drawn nearly 200 delegates from 62 countries, including students, teachers, education leaders, policymakers, researchers, and philanthropists. Together, they are engaging in critical conversations about how education systems can empower young people—especially those from disadvantaged communities—to create a more just, equitable, and sustainable future.
Singapore, renowned for its innovative and high-performing education system, was chosen as the host country for its global reputation in educational excellence.
Dr. Mirriam Siwela, Chief Executive Officer of Teach For Zimbabwe (TFZ), praised both teachers for their dedication and impact. She highlighted the vital role educators play in shaping communities and advancing systemic change. Dr. Siwela also encouraged civic organizations to partner with Teach For Zimbabwe to further support teachers in delivering inclusive, quality education.
“Teachers are not only the backbone of education; they are catalysts for community development and systemic change,” said Dr. Siwela. “By enabling teachers to connect, grow, and collaborate across borders, we can bring new insights and innovations into our classrooms and communities. This global learning exchange helps unlock the leadership potential in every educator and learner, paving the way for a brighter future.”
Chitubura, a Teach For Zimbabwe alumna, and Siziba, a committed education leader in his own right, were both selected for their exceptional leadership, dedication to educational equity, and positive impact on their schools and communities.
Speaking from Singapore, Chitubura expressed her excitement and gratitude: “It’s a great honor to represent Zimbabwe at such a meaningful event. I’m looking forward to learning from other educators and sharing ideas that can help us strengthen our education system.”
Siziba echoed her sentiments, saying, “Being part of this forum is not only a personal achievement but also a chance to amplify the voices of Zimbabwean teachers and students on a global platform. I’m eager to bring back valuable lessons and perspectives that can help transform education back home.”
As the forum progresses, both Chitubura and Siziba remain committed to engaging with their global peers and contributing to the transformation of Zimbabwe’s education system through innovation, collaboration, and shared purpose.
