Harare, (New Ziana) -The Zimbabwean media landscape is on the point of a significant transformation following the launch of the Zimpapers Media Training Institute (ZMTI), set to commence its first intake next month.

The ZMTI promises to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical skills, providing industry-ready graduates who can seamlessly integrate into the rapidly evolving media environment.

For aspiring journalists and media professionals, ZMTI offers a unique
opportunity to acquire hands-on training and industry exposure, equipping them with the skills and expertise required to excel in the competitive media landscape.

The institute’s HEXCO certified National Diploma programs in print and broadcast journalism, television and film production, radio, and digital marketing will provide students with a solid foundation in the principles and practices of media production.

Its impact on the media industry is expected to be significant, with industry insiders praising the initiative as a game changer for media education in Zimbabwe.

The focus on practical, industry based training will ensure that graduates are equipped to meet the demands of the modern media landscape, where technological advancements and changing consumer habits are redefining the way news is produced and consumed.

For those already working in the media industry, ZMTI offers a chance to upskill and reskill, enabling them to stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing environment.

The flexible learning options, including online, evening, and weekend classes, will cater to the needs of working professionals seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge.

According to the acting principal of ZMTI, Limukani Ncube, the institute’s curriculum is designed to be industry-focused, with students expected to undergo attachments across various Zimpapers platforms, including The Herald, the Chronicle, Star FM, and ZTN Prime.

“We are not just offering training, we are creating an ecosystem where learners engage directly with professionals in live newsroom and studio environments,” he said at the launch.

“Our graduates will walk out ready to tell stories that matter with skill, creativity, and a deep understanding of today’s media environment.”
