Harare (New Ziana)-The Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) has set the fees for the Ordinary and Advanced Level examinations at US$24 and US$48 respectively with government paying part of the cost for candidates in public, local authority and mission schools.
In a statement on Thursday, ZIMSEC said all candidates in private schools and colleges, including private candidates in public schools would pay the full cost of the examination fees.
“Candidates in public schools will pay 45 percent of the examination fees per subject and Government will pay 55 percent of the examination fees per subject,” it said.
“Furthermore, Government subsidy will cover 7 Subjects at O-Level and 4 Subjects at A-Level including Communication Skills. Candidates who want to sit for examinations in more subjects at each level will meet the full examination fees of those subjects themselves,” said ZIMSEC.
The amendment fees for the Ordinary Level candidates is $11 for change of a Subject/Option and $29 for addition of a new subject. The late entry subject fee will be $48 and centre penalty for late submission of entries will be $100.
Formal candidates in public schools will pay $20 for Communication Skills while those in private schools, colleges and non-formal will be pay $44.
A Level practical subjects for candidates in public schools will be going for $22 and candidates in private schools and colleges will be paying $48.
The Amendment Fees for change of a Subject/Option is $ 2.00 and Addition of a new subject is $ 59 for Advanced level candidates.
