Harare, (New Ziana) – ZimWin Mining (Private) Limited has made a significant impact in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe (UMP) through a series of donations aimed at improving education, infrastructure, and community well-being.
The mining company donated educational materials, a solar-powered borehole serving over 500 villagers, and a US$10,000 school fees package for underprivileged pupils. ZimWin also pledged to construct a new school block in the area as part of its ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives.
The handover event, held at Chipawa Primary School, was attended by key stakeholders and community members on 21 December 2025.
Dignitaries included the local Member of Parliament, Hon. Karimazondo Tichawona Makuwi, Chief Chitsungo, five councilors from UMP, and a representative from the UMP Rural District Council (RDC). The initiative highlights ZimWin Mining’s commitment to sustainable development and local empowerment, aligning with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030.
At Chipawa Primary, the company donated stationery and sports equipment benefiting over 405 students, supporting both academic learning and rural sports development. The materials included textbooks, exercise books, pencils, pens, and other essential learning resources.
Dr. Xilong Su, ZimWin Mining Director, emphasized the company’s commitment to local education, pledging assistance to complete a school block currently built up to the floor level. “This support demonstrates our dedication to improving local educational infrastructure. The new classrooms will reduce overcrowding and create better learning conditions,” he said.
In addition to infrastructure support, ZimWin Mining contributed US$10,000 for school fees to help underprivileged students access education.
A solar-powered borehole was officially opened at the school, providing sustainable water access for both the school and the wider community, and supporting local agricultural projects in line with the National Development Strategy 2.
Councilor Kapfudza commended ZimWin Mining for its contributions to local development. Chief Chitsungo and Hon. Makuwi expressed gratitude, noting the transformative impact of the company’s initiatives.
“We urge community members to cooperate with ZimWin Mining for continued mutual benefits,” said Chief Chitsungo. “Community-company partnerships are vital for sustainable development,” added Hon. Makuwi.
To bring festive cheer, ZimWin Mining distributed food hampers to families in the surrounding area, and annually provides one tonne of maize to households living near the mine.
Earlier this year, the company also donated three solar-powered boreholes to Sowa Secondary School, the Gen’a community (Ward Kunditsungira Village), and a local clinic. In addition, ZimWin is constructing a clinic in Kunditsungira Village and has completed a US$15 million plant awaiting commissioning by senior management.
Through these initiatives, ZimWin Mining continues to demonstrate its commitment to education, youth empowerment, and sustainable community development in Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe.
