ZITF returns in July

Share

Harare, April 22, 2021 (New Ziana) – The country’s biggest annual trade showcase, the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) returns this year and will be held in July after a year long hiatus due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Organisers, the ZITF Company, were forced to hold the exhibition virtually last year as the country was under lockdown during the period that it is normally held in April.

Both local and international companies as well as foreign governments take advantage of the annual showcase to strike partnerships.

The Permanent Secretary for Industry and Commerce, Dr Mavis Sibanda said the ZITF would be held for four days, instead of the normal five days.

“Please be advised that the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) has approved that the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair be held during the period 20th to 23rd July 2021,” she said in a letter to the ZITF Company.

The decision will come as a relief not just for the ZITF Company but for the host city, Bulawayo which enjoys brisk business during the period.

Government has slowly opened up the economy taking into consideration the fact that Covid-19 remains a threat, with health experts warning of a potential third wave.

At the time the exhibition was cancelled last year, the ZITF Company had sold 94 percent of its exhibition space.
