    Zvimba RDC capacitates councillors

    Zvimba (New Ziana)- The Zvimba Rural District Council on Tuesday handed over 37 motorbikes to Councillors and Banket Town board members to capacitate them in the discharge of their duties.

    Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marry Mliswa-Chikoka presided over the ceremony that saw 35 councillors from the Zvimba RDC and two Banket town board members benefiting.

    Zvimba West constituency legislator and Justice Minister, Ziyambi Ziyambi, the ruling Zanu PF District Coordinating Committee chairman for Zvimba district Goodluck Mbiri were among the guests.

    Mliswa-Chikoka applauded the council for procuring the motorbikes, highlighting that these would help enhance service delivery.

    She also commended Zvimba RDC for implementing several devolution and council funded projects in line with the national development agenda.

    “The job (of being a councillor) requires that the councillor be mobile and visible not only in their respective Wards but at other forums which give rise to coordinated development throughout the whole district,” she said.

    Meanwhile, Mliswa-Chikoka toured some devolution funded projects including Chenzou Community Hall in Zvimba West and Chomutamba primary school in Zvimba South.

    The community hall which is almost complete will be used for meetings, inputs receiving point, youth and farmer trainings while Chomutamba School is being given a facelift with modern classroom blocks being built.
