KweKwe (The Times-New Ziana) – At least 100 exhibitors are expected at the Kwekwe Expo later this month, an official has said.
The expo will run from September 26- 28, and Zimasco group chief executive officer, John Musekiwa is billed to officially open it.
It will run under the theme: “Kwekwe Expo 10 Years on – telling the story of business and talent.”
Kwekwe Expo chairperson, Eric Musesengwe said new exhibitors include Premier Medical Aid Society and Bulawayo Technical College.
“Given the state of the economy we are optimistic that the 100 Exhibitors we are targeting wiil be around to exhibit. The Expo has put Kwekwe on the map in many ways, one of which (is that) the locals themselves now know the strengths, opportunities and operations of their existing industries and the impact they have on the national GDP,” he said.
“A number of the local companies have adopted to new technology. The Kwekwe Poly as the tertiary institution of Kwekwe has come up with amazing innovations and creations,” he added.
The Expo, Musesengwe said, had become the magnet of attracting investors to KweKwe, a mining, agricultural and industrial city.
Small and medium enterprises (Smes) are expected to dominate the expo.
“The SMEs in Kwekwe are doing quite well especially one shoe making company which has very interesting shoe designs,” Musesengwe said.
He said this year, the Expo will give prominence to the Junior councillors and Junior Members of Parliament.
“They are the future of Kwekwe. We believe in engaging them now so as to make them responsible citizens.”
