LOWER GWERU – Five cattle rustlers have been arrested allegedly stealing 35 cattle at Gilman Farm,
Vungu in Lower Gweru.
Police have so far recovered 14 cattle while the five suspects appeared at the Gweru Magistrate’s
Court on November 17 and were remanded in custody.
It is alleged that on September 1 at about 7am, Patrick Ndlovu (59), a caretaker at Gilman Farm,
drove 100 cattle into the grazing paddocks and left them unattended. On the same day at about
5pm, Ndlovu discovered that 20 cattle were missing but he did not make a police report.
On November 5 at about 5pm, Ndlovu again discovered that 15 cattle were missing from the
paddocks and this time he made a police report.
Police investigations led to the arrest of Busisani Sibanda (39) of Drawcard Farm, Vungu in Lower
Gweru on November 10. Upon interview, Sibanda implicated his other accomplices Emmanuel Moyo
(40) and Mazinyane Ephraim (40) both of Village Mantiya, Chief Bunina in Lower Gweru.
The two suspects were arrested on November 14 at their homestead.
The following day at about 2pm, police acting on a tip-off, arrested Takurai Gumbo (53) and
Komborerai Gumbo (25) both of Ensors Farm, Vungu in Lower Gweru.
Investigations by the police led to the recovery of 14 cattle which were positively identified by the
complainant.
The five suspects were taken to Gweru Magistrate’s Court on November 17 and they were
remanded in custody.

such information which helps to account for criminals,” said Provincial Community Relations Liaison
Officer Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.
Man murdered in crossfire
REDCLIFF – An 18-year-old man was axed on the head and later died at a hospital in Bulawayo after
he was caught in the middle while trying to rescue a man who was being assaulted for impregnating
the accused’s daughter.
Police identified the deceased as Bukhosi Moyo of Plot 06 Lyons Farm, Redcliff, who succumbed to
injuries sustained on the head and abdomen after being assaulted with an axe.
One woman, Sifelimusa Muchiya (29) was arrested for a murder while another suspect Jabulani
Muchiya is still on the run. They are both from Lyons Farm in Redcliff.
It is alleged that November 7 at around 4PM, Bukhosi was drinking beer at Lyons tuckshop with
Norman Moyo (26), Sifelimusa and Jabulani.
Sifelimusa asked Norman why his relative had impregnated her daughter. It is then that Sifelimusa
and Jabulani then assaulted Norman with an axe and bricks.
In an effort to rescue of Norman, it is alleged that Sifelimusa and Jabulani turned against Bukhosi
and struck him once on the head with an axe and he fell down bleeding profusely.
The two suspects fled from the scene and Bukhosi and Moyo were rushed to Kwekwe General
Hospital where they were treated and discharged on the same day.
Bukhosi’s condition however, deteriorated and was referred to Silobela District Hospital where he
was admitted on November 9. He was transferred to Gweru General Hospital and later to UBH,
Bulawayo, on November 14 after his condition worsened but died the following day,
The suspect Sifelimusa was arrested and is assisting police with the investigations while her co-
accused Jubulani is still at large.
Police Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the murder case and is
appealing to members of the public with any information on the whereabouts of Jabulani Muchiya
who is still at large to contact their nearest police station.
He urged people to desist from being violent in solving disputes.
Police launch manhunt for murder suspect
KWEKWE – Police has launched a manhunt for a 30-year-old Gokwe man who is alleged to have
murdered a fellow gold panner by striking him with a drill bit on the head at Globe and Phoenix Mine
recently.
The accused Proud Gumi of Village Muzvidziwa Chief Sai, Gokwe is now wanted for the alleged
murder of Busani Bhebhe (25) of Plot 7 Grasslands Kwekwe.
Acting ZRP Midlands Provincial Community Relations Liaison Officer Assistant Inspector Fungai
Ngawagare said on September 29 this year, Gumi allegedly struck Bhebhe on the head with a drill
bit.
Bhebhe later succumbed to the injuries on October 9.
“Zimbabwe Republic Police are appealing for information which may lead to the arrest of Proud
GUMI whose whereabouts are unknown and anyone with information to contact CID Kwekwe or any
nearest station,” said Asst. Insp. Ngawagare.
Zvishavane man caught with 114 mbanje plants
ZVISHAVANE – Police managed to bust a drug dealer whom they found with 114 plants of dagga
(mbanje) in his garden and 600 grammes of prepared dagga hidden in his kitchen hut in Mpalawani
area, Zvishavane.
The 52-year-old suspect Chamas Nyoni of Village Ingezi ‘C’, Mpalawani, Zvishavane is now in police
custody and is expected to appear in court soon facing charges of unlawful cultivation of dagga.
It is said that on November 17 at around 8am police detectives in Zvishavane were tipped that Nyoni
was allegedly cultivating and selling dagga.
The detectives went to Nyoni’s homestead where they saw the plants of dagga in his garden and
arrested him. A total of 114 plants of dagga of between 40 centimeters and 1.2 metres tall were in
the garden.
A further search at the accused person’s homestead led to the recovery of 600 grammes of dagga in
a kitchen hut packed in plastic packets hidden under some bags of maize.
