KARIBA – THE much-awaited Kariba’s second biggest outdoor event after Tiger Fish Tournament, the Nyaminyami Festival, ended in bloodshed and murder when a 33-year-old man was stabbed to death.
Keith Kadziyanike, a local resident, was stabbed at the Nyaminyami Festival.
He was declared dead on arrival at Kariba District Hospital. He was stabbed by his girlfriend, Sibongile Jack Siyanjalika (34), during the festival around 1 am on the 30 October, the Mashonaland West Police spokesperson, Inspector Margret Chitove, said.
“On 30 October 2022 around 1am Keith Kadziyanike and Sibongile Jack Siyajalika attended the Nyaminyami Festival at Lake Harvest Club, Kariba. During the festival Kadziyanike saw Siyanjalika with another boyfriend and this did not go down well with him and a misunderstanding arose. Siyanjalika stabbed Kadziyanike with a broken bottle and he sustained a deep cut on the left side of the neck and was rushed to Kariba District Hospital for further management. He died on arrival.
“ZRP Kariba attended the scene and arrested Siyanjalika,” said Inspector Chitove.
Inspector Chitove urged the public to preserve the sanctity of human life whenever there is a misunderstanding.
The festival was attended by hundreds of people.
