Edward Moffat (35), a Bindura Hospital Ambulance driver appeared at the Bindura
Magistrates’ Court, recently facing allegations of assaulting a nine – year-old boy last month.
Prosecutor Sheila Maribha, for the State, said on 24 January 2023 around 4pm the
complainant was playing with a friend when Moffat approached him and clapped him once
on the face before hitting him twice on the head with a fist.
Moffat was doing this in retaliation of a misunderstanding that had occurred between the
complainant and his son.
The nine-year-old sustained a painful face and head as a result of the assault.
The juvenile reported to his mother, who filed a police report.
Moffat pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Samantha Dhlamini and he was remanded out of
custody to 17 February 2023.
