MARONDERA – A 21-year-old man from Chidende Village who was facing charges of
raping a minor was last week sentenced to 10 years in prison by Magistrate Ignatius Mhene.
The incident occurred on January 23 when the accused Moses Munyoro (21) approached the
complainant who is a Grade Five pupil in Wedza from behind when she was going to school.

dragged the victim to a mountain where he raped her.
Shamiso Sharmaine Mwapangira who appeared for the State said that the girl was later saved
by the accused's mother and her friend when they started calling out her name resulting in
Munyoro bolting.
Medical reports revealed that the complainant was as she had bruises on her private parts and
at the time of the examination, the wounds were still fresh.
In an interview with Chaminuka News, after the sentencing, Moses' mother said that she was
hurt but felt that the judgement was fair since her son had pleaded guilty to the offence.
