Harare (New Ziana) – Harare police on Saturday reported the death of a toddler in Waterfalls who had jumped into a dish filled with hot water which had been left unattended by the mother outside a house.

In a twitter thread, the police said the toddler, one year and four months old, died on June 21 at a Harare hospital where he was admitted after the accident.

The toddler was badly scalded after jumping into the dish filled with hot water.

Meanwhile, police also said four artisanal miners were feared trapped underground at Ran Mine in Gwringwindi in Bindura after a mine shaft they were working in collapsed.

They said details of the case were still sketchy, but officers were on the ground investigating.

In Chegutu, police said they were carrying out investigations into a suspected attempted murder case after a 43-year-old man was struck with an axe on the head following an argument during a beer drinking spree.

The suspect, identified as Tapiwa, is reported to be on the run, and police are appealing to members of the public for information on his whereabouts.
