    Cabinet takes stock of third quarter 100-day cycle projects

    Harare (New Ziana) – The government has installed solar powered boreholes at 10 health facilities in Manicaland province as part of the third 100-day cycle priority projects for this year.

    These were the major projects that Health and Child Care Minister Dr Douglas Mombeshora reported to Cabinet on Tuesday that his Ministry had carried out during the period under review.

    According to Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Jenfan Muswere, four other Ministries gave updates for the period under review, namely Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Local Government and Public Works as well as Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare.

    Muswere said other projects that Dr Mombeshora reported on include construction of the Bhale Health Post in Hwange district which is at 70 percent completion, Mutare Natpharm warehouse at 98 percent, installation of medical gas reticulation at Banket, Chivhu and Victoria Falls hospitals at 98 percent, 97 percent and 80 percent completion respectively.

    Construction of Runyararo Clinic in Chimanimani district, Manicaland province is 85 percent complete, while Mataga Clinic in Mberengwa district, Midlands is 100 percent complete.

    Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage Minister Kazembe Kazembe reported that preliminary engagements were done with stakeholders for the establishment of community archives in the Mashonaland Central former protected villages while construction of the Harava waiting mothers’ shelter in Zaka district, Masvingo is 96 percent complete and that of the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Dotito station in Mount Darwin, Mashonaland Central province is 95 percent complete.

    Kazembe said the decentralization of E-passport services to Mwenezi district in Masvingo has commenced, with materials now on site.

    Acting Local Government and Public Works Minister July Moyo reported that electrical reticulation at the Lupane Composite Offices is 10 percent complete, construction of the perimeter wall at Mutare District Development Coordinator’s offices is 77 percent complete, while the construction of roads in Mashonaland Central, Manicaland, Masvingo, and Mashonaland East provinces under the Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme 2 (ERRP2) through Devolution funds are at different stages of completion.

    Construction of staff houses at Gutu Secondary School is 70 percent complete, the science laboratory at Chitimbe High School is 98 percent complete, a classroom block at Musiya Primary School is 65 percent complete while that at Nyamanzou Primary School is 50 percent complete and a classroom block at Rujeko School is 98 percent complete.

    Projects to enhance access to water and sanitation at Asiphakameni Secondary Schoolm in Lupane, Matabeleland North, Phakama Primary School, Silozwi Clinic, and Ndabankulu Maribehe Primary School in Matabeleland South are over 80 percent complete.

    Construction of Mashala and Mkhombo Ccinics in Matabeleland North are at 80 percent and 45 percent completion respectively.

    Under the purview of his own Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Moyo reported that a total of 9 066 children were reached through awareness raising skills, while 110 social service providers were trained to offer online counseling and support victims of online violence against children.

    “Construction of a cottage and a hut, under the Project Dzimba and Portable Water, for Mr Moses Nyakabau of Mutoko, a grossly disabled pensioner, has been completed,” he said.

    “Authority to train 162 arbitrators on the new provisions of the Labour Amendment Act, No. 11 of 2023 has been granted and 100 White Canes were procured for 100 blind persons in Chikomba district, Mashonaland East.”
