MARONDERA- The police in Mashonaland East Police are probing a suspected murder following the discovery of a body that was in an advanced state of decomposition.
The deceased’s body was identified as Solomon Chisero (44) of Maruza Village, under Chief Nyamukoho in Mudzi district.
According to reports, early this month, the now deceased Chisero visited his girlfriend, Sekai Nyamupenza (36) who is wife to Tatenda Rundu, at Suswe Business Centre in Mudzi.
“On the 9th of last month, Nyamupenza and the late Chisero traveled to Mutsenhu Village, Chief Nyamukoho, Mudzi, riding the deceased’s motorcycle. He left the motorcycle at a local villager’s homestead and the lovebirds proceeded to a nearby mountainous area for a rendezvous.
“Two unknown men, armed with stones, emerged from different directions and confronted the pair. One of the assailants questioned what Chisero what doing with a married woman, alleging that his actions would result in the area being cursed,” according to Police.
The suspects then stoned Chisero prompting the married woman to flee.
Early this month, the now-deceased’s sister, Tsitsi Chisero (46), made a missing person report at Suswe police that her brother had been missing. The police made investigations and gathered information that he was last seen with Nyamupenza on their way to Mutsenhu Village.
At Mutsenhu Village, witnesses reported that a man matching Chisero’s description was chased by two men into a nearby bush. Police searched the area on October 13, but did not find any leads.
The search resumed the next day and Chisero’s decomposing body was discovered and the deceased’s sister, Tsitsi, positively identified the body.
Investigations of the case are ongoing.
