Harare, (New Ziana) – The Agriculture Marketing Authority (AMA) has announced the extension of registration of contract farmers from September 30 to December 15 this year.

In a statement, AMA chief executive officer, Clever Isaya said all contractors are required by law to submit lists of their contracted farmers and hectarages to the authority by December 15 this year.

“In accordance with the provisions of the Agricultural Marketing Authority Act, Chapter 18:24, Statutory Instrument 147 of 2012 and 140 of 2013, all institutions and individuals intending to go into contract farming are reminded to register or renew their licenses for the 2024/25 agricultural season,” said Isaya.

He said the season runs from 01 October 2024 to 30 September 2025.

Isaya said a special extension has been granted to allow registrations upto December 15 this year, adding that individual farmers are also required to have registered by that date.

He said both farmers and contractors are strongly encouraged to honour their contractual obligations and are also reminded that the authority has zero tolerance for side marketing and warned that those who wantonly breach their contractual obligations and engage in side-marketing will be prosecuted.
