New Ziana – The Government of Zimbabwe through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has reaffirmed its ruling that limits the number of subjects candidates may sit for under the Zimbabwe School Examinations Council (ZIMSEC), with officials also directing that students who paid for additional subjects be refunded.
According to the new arrangements, Ordinary Level (O Level) candidates will now be allowed a maximum of nine subjects, while Advanced Level (A Level) candidates will be restricted to three subjects.
Authorities said the move is aimed at standardising subject entry and ensuring fees are aligned with the permitted number of examinable subjects.
Officials further stated that candidates who had already paid for extra subjects beyond the new caps will receive refunds, in line with the Government’s directive.
The details of how and when refunds will be processed were not immediately released, but ZIMSEC and relevant education authorities said guidance would be provided to affected schools and candidates.
Meanwhile, schools are expected to review subject entries and ensure compliance with the updated limits ahead of forthcoming examination sittings.
