Attempts to stage illegal demonstrations aimed at disturbing peace and stability in the country have again failed, signaling citizens backing development.
Economic terrorist groups took to social media to share banners encouraging the public to boycott work and join demonstrations.
The appeal failed to gain traction, with members of the public resuming their daily routines. Learners attended school and workers in both the formal and informal sectors continued with their activities.
The news crew visited key areas within the province and observed a positive outcome from members of the public who chose to ignore social media calls of downing tools on July 31.
Life in Matabeleland North continued as normal, as tourist resort towns recorded high numbers of visitors. Tourists in both Hwange and Victoria Falls were seen exploring the areas with enthusiasm.
Authorities maintain that normal economic and social life must continue uninterrupted. President Mnangagwa has repeatedly cautioned Zimbabweans against being sidetracked by what he labeled efforts by “merchants of violence” aimed at derailing national progress.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Judith Ncube, has urged residents, businesses, transport operators and SMEs to ignore calls for an illegal stay-away.
“It’s only within a peaceful and stable environment that businesses can thrive, investors can have confidence, visitors can feel welcome, and communities can pursue meaningful social and economic progress,” said Cde Judith Ncube.
Meanwhile Zimbabwe is experiencing a busy week of activity, with numerous local and international business engagements lined up. Bulawayo is hosting Mine Entra 2026 at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair grounds.
The unfruitful illegal protests come at a time when the nation is united in pursuing Vision 2030 an agenda focused on attaining middle-income status through job creation, improved road, ICT and infrastructure development, and an inclusive approach that leaves no one and no area behind.
