BUSINESSMAN and philanthropist Wicknell Chivayo has increased the cash reward he pledged to musician Sugar Sugar from US$10,000 to US$40,000 for praising President Emmerson Mnangagwa, with a further US$20,000 promised for speaking positively about Zimbabwe.
Chivayo announced in a social media post that he was pleased with the feedback he had received from Sugar Sugar, who has been vocal in his praise for President Mnangagwa.
He said the US$40,000 would be available for collection in cash and reminded the musician to bring his driver’s license when collecting the money.
Chivayo also said he was prepared to give Sugar Sugar an additional US$20,000 for promoting the country positively.
The latest pledge comes after Chivayo previously rewarded Sugar Sugar with a new Toyota Fortuner and US$10,000 following the release of his song, “Todya Mudododo.”
Chivayo said he felt sympathy for the musician after learning that he did not yet have a car, prompting him to extend his support.
The latest offer has generated interest among Zimbabweans on social media, with Chivayo continuing his high-profile practice of rewarding musicians and other public figures whose work or messages he considers supportive of the country and the President.
In recent years, the businessman has made several high-value gifts and cash pledges to musicians, entertainers, and other personalities, often announcing the rewards through his social media platforms.
