Harare, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday received the final report by the tribunal appointed to look into the suitability of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Francis Bere to continue holding office following allegations of unbecoming conduct.

He also appointed two new tribunals to separately look into allegations of misconduct by two commissioners of the Zimbabwe Land Commission (ZLC) and one Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) commissioner.

Chaired by Retired Justice Simbi Mubako, the tribunal that looked into Justice Bere’s alleged misconduct was appointed in March this year.

It also had lawyers Takawira Nzombe and Rekayi Maphosa as its other members.

Justice Bere is accused of having tried to influence a case in which the Zimbabwe National Roads Administration was feuding over a payment with a company called Fremus Enterprises, said to be owned by his relative.

He was reported to the Judicial Services Commission after giving one of the Zinara lawyers a call, urging him to settle the matter.

President Mnangagwa is expected to announce Justice Bere’s fate soon following submission of the report.

Meanwhile, President Mnangagwa also swore in tribunals led by Retired Justices Maphios Cheda and Nicholas Ndou respectively to look into the
suitability of the ZLC and ZACC commissioners to continue holding office.

Rtd Justice Cheda will chair the tribunal whose other members include Angeline Vere and Godfrey Mutseyekwa to investigate Tadious Mazoroza and Jeanette Manyengwa for misconduct.

The two are alleged to have co-authored and uploaded onto the World Bank Conference website an abstract, which painted a negative picture of the country’s land reform programme in respect of the land tenure and allocation of land to women, youths and farm workers.

Tecla Mapota and Tarisai Mutangi make up the tribunal led by Rtd Justice Ndou to investigate Zacc commissioner Frank Muchengwa who was suspended on corruption allegations.
