Gweru, (New Ziana) – Midlands Province police are investigating two cases of murder and attempted murder in which the victims were allegedly stabbed while trying to stop fights in separate incidents which occurred at TM and Manhangu Business Centres in Silobela last week.

Police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko identified the deceased as Tafadzwa Descent Nyoni (20). The other victim, Prince Mabhena (28), is battling for life at Kwekwe General Hospital after he was also stabbed with a knife.

Two suspects, Thulani Msipa of Village Nzvananzi and Tapiwa Bhebhe of Bhebhe General Dealers, Silobela under Chief Malisa, are on the run.

Mahoko said on March 18 at about 2230hrs, Mabhena’s drinking mate picked up a fight with Msipa, which he tried to break up, but was in the process stabbed with a knife on the stomach by the latter.

Mabhena was rushed to Kwekwe General Hospital where is he is receiving treatment.

On the other hand, Mahoko said Nyoni was allegedly stabbed at the back by Bhebhe on March 18 at TM Business Centre in Silobela.

“Tafadzwa tried to refrain Bhebhe from stabbing Ocean with a knife. The knife was turned on him and he was stabbed twice at the back. He died on his way to the hospital,” said Mahoko.

He said said it was unfortunate that the victims in both cases suffered while trying to calm down violent situations.
He urged Good Samaritans” to consider their safety first when they seek to intervene in similar instances and take adequate precautions.

Mahoko said both cases were under investigation and appealed for information that might lead to the arrest of the suspects – Msipa and Bhebhe.
