KWEKWE – Hunters Secondary School science laboratory block in Ward 30 built courtesy of devolution funds is due for commissioning.
This was revealed by Zibagwe Rural District Council Chief Executive Officer Farayi Machaya during a council meeting last week.
He said the local authority was implementing various projects in different wards after receiving ZWL $6 million during the just-ended quarter (July-September).
The CEO said council is now focusing on completing the Hunters School science laboratory block, which is now at beam level.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution in the Midlands province Senator Larry Mavima recently opened Gwesela-Bhalimasvesve Primary School (Ward 8) and Sherwood clinic (Ward 31) which was built using devolution funds.
Other completed projects include the construction of Langton Clinic (Ward 24), Fafi Clinic (Ward 12), Columbina public toilets (Ward 6), Langton Clinic (Ward 24), flea market (Joel Business Centre – Ward 12)
During the official opening of Sherwood clinic, Zibagwe RDC was handed over a fully-furnished Sherwood Maternity Ward built by the Zimbabwe Defence Forces and financed by Grensharp Enterprises as part of its corporate social responsibility.
“As that was not enough, the company (Grensharp Enterprises) proved beyond doubt that they are a responsible corporate by donating an ambulance to council.
“… allow me to proudly say that Zibagwe Rural District Council now owns its own ambulance courtesy of Grensharp Enterprises.
“Grensharp and ZDF deserve a round of applause for the other invaluable work they did at Sherwood, completion of a waiting mothers’ shelter, Durawall, pavement among other things,” said Machaya.
Meanwhile, Zibagwe RDC carried out feasibility exercises in Ward 2 and 17 for the establishment of clinics.
Council also plans to build Amatava Primary School in Ward 30. There are also plans to establish a private school – Olivet School, in Zhombe.
During the period under review, Zibagwe RDC managed to rehabilitate 25 boreholes in 14 wards.
