Bindura, (Nehanda Guardian-New Ziana) – Bindura municipality has said it had launched a rehabilitation project for the town’s water and sewer reticulation system to improve service delivery.

The project also involves upgrades to the drainage system.

Mayor Carlos Tokyo said the exercise was intended to unblock some drainage systems no longer working, and to modernise parts of Bindura’s water and sewer reticulation infrastructure.

He said some of the infrastructure had not only become obsolete, but could no longer serve the needs of the town’s expanding population.

Due to old age, water and sever pipes constantly burst.

“It is also our vision as the municipality fathers to improve service delivery in this town,” mayor Tokyo said.

Hordes of municipal workers and casuals are currently deployed in various areas, especially Chipadze suburb, rehabilitating the infrastructure.
Chipadze is Bindura’s oldest residential area, and its infrastructure is most vulnerable to break-downs.
