Harare (New Ziana) – Former Energy and Power Development Minister Fortune Chasi on Sunday said he accepted his fate and was ready to continue working for the people and the ruling Zanu PF party as a Parliamentarian.

Chasi is a Zanu PF Member of Parliament for Mazowe South constituency.

He was relieved of his duties on Friday last week by President Emmerson Mnangagwa for “conduct of government business (that) had become incompatible with the President’s expectations.”

He was immediately replaced by Soda Zhemu, a legislator for Muzarabani North constituency.

“I must make it very clear that I do not harbour any bitterness regarding my current position. I accept the decision to relieve me of my position as that is the President’s prerogative. I remain committed to serve in any capacity whatsoever,” he tweeted.

“Meanwhile, I shall revert to being a back bencher (in Parliament) and continue to work in the constituency and party.”

Chasi had served as Energy Minister since May 2019, when he was promoted from the post of deputy minister of transport.
