Kwekwe(The Times-New Ziana) – A 32 year old man allegedly committed suicide at the gate of his girlfriend in Mbizo section 8 after a domestic dispute over his unfaithfulness.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson inspector Joel Goko said Jonah Byron Nyerera allegedly hanged himself on a gate after his girlfriend, only identified as Nothando (31), had denied him entry into her house.

Insp Goko said Nyerera visited his girlfriend Nothando on the morning of October 20 this year and while there, he allegedly received a phone call from another girlfriend.

A misunderstanding ensued as a result of the call as Nothando felt Nyerera was cheating on her.

“Nothando chased Nyerera out of her house and locked him outside the gate,” said Insp Goko.

“Nyerera pleaded with her to let him in but she turned a deaf ear.”

Ins Goko said Nothando went to sleep around 2300 hrs while Nyerera was still at the gate, where he allegedly hanged himself.

He encouraged people to always seek advice from other people before deciding on taking drastic measures such as committing suicide.

“This man should have talked to a friend about this issue and got help on how to handle such a heartbreak and would have been given better advice than committing suicide,” he said.
