    China, Russia re-commit to cooperate with Zimbabwe

    Bindura (New Ziana) -The Russian Federation is keen to enhance bilateral relations with Zimbabwe beyond existing mining operations, an official said on Friday.

    In a solidarity message delivered at the ongoing Zanu PF 19th annual national peoples conference, Russian ambassador to Zimbabwe, Nikolai Krasilnikov said his government supported President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s administration.

    “The Russian Federation supports Zimbabwe under Zanu PF leadership under His Excellency President Mnangagwa in its endeavour to grow and modernise the economy.
    ” Russia is determined to enhance relations with Zimbabwe beyond just mining operations, ” he said

    In a statement of solidarity delivered on its behalf by Zanu PF national chairperson Oppah Muchinguri, China echoed the sentiments of Russia.

    “The Communist Party of China stands ready to deepen and enhance cooperation with Zanu PF so as to jointly steer the development of China – Zimbabwe relations for the benefit of our two people, ” it said.

    Speaking on behalf of diplomats from the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Tanzanian ambassador to Zimbabwe Prof Emmanuel Mbennah said the bloc was hopeful that the government would succeed in rebuilding the economy.

    “As SADC and Tanzania, we wish you success in the days to come as you continue to build Zimbabwe,” he said.

    National Council of Chiefs president Chief Fortune Charumbira commended President Mnangagwa’s administration for implementing various infrastructure and rural empowerment projects.

    He also applauded President Mnangagwa for reaching out to the people of Matabeleland, who were affected by the Gukurahundi disturbances.
