President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Friday appointed General (Rtd) Constantino Chiwenga and
Kembo Mohadi as Vice Presidents as he moves to build his administration following his inauguration
    on Monday.
Chief Justice Luke Malaba swore in the two Vice Presidents at State House to enable them to start
serving the country for the next five years.
President Mnangagwa, who won re-election for a second and final term defeating main challenger
Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa in the presidential election held last month,
witnessed the swearing in ceremony of his two deputies.
VP Chiwenga was still serving in his post to which he was appointed in 2018 while VP Mohadi is
bouncing back after he resigned in March 2021 following string of sex scandals.
VP Mohadi had however continued serving as Zanu PF vice president and second secretary. Speaking
to journalists after taking oaths of office, the two VPs pledged to move Zimbabwe’s developmental
    agenda forward.
“I am here to serve the nation. I have been serving the nation since the coming of the Second
Republic and I will continue to do so. We have got our own agenda that we have set for ourselves.
We have a vision that we are going to fulfil,” said VP Mohadi.
VP Chiwenga said as the Presidium, they will work to ensure that the government achieves its set
    targets.
“This is an important day for me and my family but more importantly it’s a big day for our country
that we start now a new year which we are going to start with zeal, with energy to build the
Zimbabwe we want, in support of our President Emmerson Mnangagwa and his vision which is
pronounced to the people of Zimbabwe, Africa and the world that Zimbabwe will be a middle
    income country.
“We are going to achieve it before the year 2030 and we are going to work tirelessly day and night
supporting President Mnangagwa’s vision but for us to do that we want to be in union and peace,”
    he said.
With the appointments of the VPs, President Mnangagwa is now expected to unveil his Cabinet
team soon so that it gets down to work and finish the programmes that he started in his first term.
