Church in fund-raising drive

Share

GWERU – THE Catholic Diocese of Gweru has embarked on a fundraising initiative to raise money to
help it meet some of its health and educational facility needs.
The diocese has eight medical facilities that include Muwonde Hospital, Zhombe Mission Hospital, St
Theresa in Hama, Serima Clinic in Gutu and Hozheri Clinic in Lalapanzi among others.
The Catholic Church also has schools in nearly every district of the province that have played a part
in educating the community.

The church also intends to install solar systems in mortuaries at all its health facilities under the
Gweru diocese.

Gweru diocese Bishop Rudolph Nyandoro said the whole idea of the fundraiser was to help improve
the livelihoods of the people in the communities they serve.
We want to lead in self-reliance as a church, bringing our people in the church and even others
outside the church to be at the forefront in giving essential services to the people, Bishop Nyandoro
said adding: We don’t have a set target of the money we are looking to raise but we are saying
whatever we get is important because it is a donation.

Bishop Nyandoro said they were currently facing challenges in some of the facilities they run.
Some of the challenges we face in running our clinics and hospitals is that we do not have enough
equipment and medical utilities, so we want to beef up these.

The fundraising campaign will see the church hosting a golf tournament in Gweru on November 4
among other activities.
